The Service is managed by Kim  Worgan who has a Catering Manager (Debbie Greenman) and 6 other staff. Currently the service provides 140 fresh meals daily

We supply good quality hot, nutritious, freshly cooked three course meals for older people, five days a week at a cost of £3.30 per meal.

We deliver meals into the homes of many older people living in the area, giving our volunteer drivers the opportunity to offer to arrange any additional support.

We also supply meals to existing Luncheon Clubs and give support to volunteers setting up new clubs and centres to enable older people to get together helping reduce the isolation and loneliness associated with old age. We can offer a diverse range of meals that reflect individual preferences (eg diabetic choice).

The service has been running since 1993 starting life on a shoe string operating from space within the Dilke Hospital. We are now delivering about 700 meals per week from a fully fitted kitchen built up with the aid of funding over the years situated at commercial premises in the Enterprise Centre, Cinderford.

We are dependant upon our team of about 40 volunteer drivers to deliver the meals, some of whom have been with us from the beginning. Without their dedication, turning up in all weathers the service would not survive.

We are grateful for the ongoing financial support of Forest of Dean District Council and Gloucestershire County Council who subsidise this social service to the elderly members of our community.

The service can be contacted on 01594 827927.
