In later life many older people have lost friends and relatives through the natural progression of time. They can be left lonely and isolated and either physically unable to get out and meet others or may have lost the will to do so. It may also be that there is no family nearby to whom they can turn for comfort or companionship.

Our befriending service can address some of these issues - it provides someone who can listen to problems or chat over a cup of tea and hopefully this will assist the client to cope more easily with life in general.

We are always on the look out for, and ready to welcome new volunteers who can spare some time from  their own busy lives to offer support and companionship to someone  in need and, at the same time, play a role which is both rewarding and fulfilling and of benefit to the whole community.

If this is something you would be interested in and you could spare a minimum of one hour per week, please call Dawn Snow on 01594 845621.

Travelling expenses will be reimbursed and there may be opportunities for telephone-befriending.
